Miramare castle
- Tip: Don't miss Maximilian's private chambers, where you can see firsthand how the archduke and his wife, Empress Carlota, lived during their time at Miramare.
- Dogs are allowed on board. It is mandatory to wear a muzzle or use a pet carrier.
- Wheelchairs can be requested if needed.
- An elevator is available to assist visitors with mobility challenges in reaching the upper floor.
- Keep in mind that there are no seating areas along the tour route.
- It’s recommended to carry some cash, as the museum has a souvenir store and a café in the garden.
- Large backpacks, bags, and umbrellas should be checked in at the museum cloakroom.
- On the first Sunday of each month, entry is free for all guests.
- Photography is not allowed inside the castle.
Hop on hop off tour
- Tip: Hop off at the Roman Theatre to see the ruins of the Roman Empire, including a well-preserved amphitheater dating back to the 1st century AD.
- It is necessary to show up at the stop 5 minutes before the scheduled departure.
- Children under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
- The tour is not wheelchair accessible.
- Dogs are allowed on board. It is mandatory to wear a muzzle or use a pet carrier.

We really enjoyed our little tour of Triestre. The price was right and the staff very nice. I only have one criticism. The audio in English was very clear and very interesting. The only thing that you really must change , in my opinion, is some of the words used. Some of these include the following from memory but I am sure there are more. Epoque: is not a word used in English, period would be more appropriate. Spur: Can't remember the context it was in but it means nothing. Mole cost: I think he was supposed to say coast and was in refering to the harbour and surrounding, but in any case not a thing. Slewing, in reference to a slewing bridge. This maybe technically correct but unless you were an engineer or grew up in 19th century it means nothing. Rotating bridge or something similar would be better. It is a common error made everywhere you travel but I think it is something that would improve the experience of this wonderful city.

The place is beautiful, the only shortcoming I found was the lack of signage inside the park. I struggled to figure out which path to take to exit to the "Miramare" train stop from where I had entered. (I admit I did not bother to memorize the way).

Miramare is just beautiful. I have really wanted to see this castle for some years and when the opportunity came up to go to Trieste, this was on the top of my list. The HopIt Bus and Miramare ticket made it easy to get there and see the castle. My advice is that it takes an hour to get there on the HopIt Bus and you then have a 20-30 minute walk from the drop off point, so take that into consideration when booking your tour time for the castle.

Directions in the email and ticket to initiation spot were different, then I went to drop off point and could not find sign. Saw the bus and tried to flag the driver and he passed me by. So I never go to use the bus. Took a 20 taxi each way to Miramare and would like my money refunded.

The castle is fabulous to see, as soon as we arrived at the site they let us in right away. Parking, on the other hand, was difficult to find because there were so many people stopping at the "beach" to swim! Tip: arrive a few hours early to get a spot, especially if you want to visit the castle in August 😉

The castle itself is a beautiful place, located directly on the lakeshore. The rooms and the exhibition are impressive. It was definitely worth a visit.

I never was able to attend as I was advised part way there, from Trieste, that my husband back in Australia had had a serious car accident, and a tragedy, and we had to get back to accommodation straight away to deal with it all.

The museum itself (the inside of castle), is okay, nothing that you didn't already see somewhere else in some other castle, BUT, the castle itself (outside), the views, gardens, everything around is just wow, mesmerising. We had no problems with tickets, we didn't have to wait or anything!

Beautifully arranged furniture, fine art and tapestry. I could imagine how life more than a hundred years must have been. With the audio guide you could choose your own tempo instead of trotting in a huge flock after a guide. Unfortunately the fountains in the castle garden were off, this would be the cherry on top.

spectacular Miramare Castle because of its enviable location. Great reservation that made us skip the queue even though at the entrance the QR code of the ticket was not read by the device, but they let us in anyway. Very disappointing was the shuttle service for visiting the park; 6 euros to be transported in a really uncomfortable way and with 15 minutes we were shown a tiny part of the 22 hectares of park in passing.

Given the long lines to enter we opted to book tickets online with skip the line.Excellent choice that allowed us to take a nice tour of the park and then show up in advance of the 'booked time and be able to enter right away with great ease.L' interior of the castle very beautiful,to be admired with open mouth. The only "flaw" in the whole setting are the restrooms.With all the paying visitors they could be maintained much better. Broken handles and doors, towels that did not work, bad smells, really a shame.

Il bus turistico sali e scendi è molto comodo perché dà la possibilità di scendere ad ogni fermata x visitare qualche cosa che ci interessa nei dintorni per poi risalire per riprendere il tour. Logicamente la cosa va organizzata bene e i mezzi devono essere frequenti e avere anche posti liberi x coloro che vogliono risalire, cosa che nel nostro caso purtroppo non sempre si è verificata. Per il resto buona la gestione degli ospiti e validi gli accompagnatori, gentili e disponibili. Bella la visita al castello di Miramare, l'interno è un pezzo di storia che vale la pena di conoscere, sarebbe ancora migliore se ci fossero delle guide che ti raccontano di persona ciò che stai vedendo. Splendido poi il parco che circonda il castello, da visitare sicuramente. Più che soddisfatto!
