This is the greatest hits tour of the Yarra Valley. You'll find some of the country's finest wines here, some even award-winning drops. The Red Route is perfect if you want a mix of wine, gin, and gourmet experiences.
You'll find gems like Sutherland Estate and Yarrawood Estate where you can sip wine with 360-degree views of the countryside. The Green Route is your match if you're after intimate settings where you can chat with the winemakers, and Yarra Valley producers that your kids can enjoy.
Pro tip: Watts River Brewery, Four Pillars Distillery, Jayden Ong Winery, and Payten & Jones Winery are within walking distance of each other.
Both the Red and Green routes offer pick-ups from Melbourne. Here are the boarding points and time of departure:
Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before your departure time.
Time of year
The Yarra Valley is enchanting year-round, but the harvest season from February to April offers vibrant vineyard landscapes and bustling cellar doors.
Weekends vs. weekdays
Weekends are lively with events and tastings, ideal for those seeking a social atmosphere. For a more intimate experience, consider visiting on weekdays when wineries are less crowded.

Amenities on the bus
Just a scenic 60-minute drive from Melbourne CBD – close enough for a perfect day trip.
The hop-on hop-off bus picks you up from central Melbourne (Grand Hyatt) and Lilydale Station, making it easy to reach wine country (and safe to get back).
We recommend visiting 3-4 wineries to fully enjoy each experience, though the flexible hop-on hop-off service lets you set your own pace.
While the transport is hop-on hop-off, it’s recommended to book tastings at popular spots like Domaine Chandon and Four Pillars Gin in advance.
Your ticket includes all-day transport between wineries, a friendly guide, and chilled storage for your wine purchases.
The Red Route featuring Domaine Chandon and Rochford Wines is perfect for first-timers wanting to experience iconic Australian wines.
The Green Route includes family favorites like Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Yarra Valley Dairy, perfect for all ages.
February to April (harvest season) offers the best vineyard views, but the tours run year-round.
The buses run from 10:10am to 5pm, giving you a full day to explore at your own pace.
Not at all! From curious beginners to seasoned wine lovers, Yarra Valley’s friendly winemakers love sharing their passion with everyone.
